Currently, it’s set to “Overworld”, which is intended for Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest-style world maps, providing an abstract depiction of travelling long distances. “Tileset” is an extremely important setting because it controls the overall look of the map: the tiles that are used to create it. It doesn’t have to match “Name”, and if you leave it blank, the location display won’t appear at all. By contrast, “Display Name” is simply a short string of text that briefly appears in the top-left corner of the game screen when the player enters the map. This is what it will be referred to as in the editor, as well as what appears in the player’s save game file if they save their game in this location. There are all sorts of interesting things we can do in here, but let’s look at the settings that have the most immediately obvious effect, which are the General Settings in the top-left panel. That will bring up the properties page for the current map, which looks like this: To do this, look over to the panel in the lower-left corner of the screen and right-click the entry that says MAP001. We’ll stick with these for the moment, but we will make that initial map a bit bigger, because at present it’s rather tiny. RPG Maker has created a basic map for us, put down the Player Start location automatically and given us some basic resources to work with. When it’s done, your screen should look something like this: RPG Maker MV will then spend a moment copying the basic assets - known in previous versions of RPG Maker as the “run-time package” or “RTP” - into your project folder. Make sure the Location is somewhere you can find easily - the default location of just off your My Documents folder is ideal - because when you come to do more advanced bits and pieces such as importing assets, you’ll want to have easy access to your game’s file system. So in the example above, my new project will be created in C:\Users\Pete\Documents\Games\MoeGamer. “Location”, meanwhile, is the folder where the subfolder specified in “Name” will be created. “Game Title” is the long name your game will be referred to by - this is what will appear on the window title bar and installed icons when you distribute the game, for example, as well as appearing on the title screen. “Name” is the name of the subfolder your project will be kept in. To get started, fire up RPG Maker MV and choose “New Project…” from the File menu, or just click the New icon on the toolbar, which is the first button. If your screens look different, check you are running the latest version. Note: This article is based on the latest version of RPG Maker MV at the time of writing, which is 1.3.0. If you’re ready, then, let’s get going! If you want to follow along but don’t have a copy of MV, you can download a trial version from the official website. Like any creative tool, if you don’t master this essential first, there’s little point in going further. Today we’re going to take a look at the most basic skill you will need to get an RPG Maker MV game up and running: mapping. Over the course of the next three articles, I’ll introduce you to how RPG Maker MV does business: how you create maps, fill them with things to do and, in the final part, how to go beyond the constraints of the basic engine. This article is one chapter of a multi-part Cover Game feature! Now to be completely clear, this isn’t some overly complicated excel template that has tons of formulas that only someone who can code could possibly figure out. The full version of this excel template will track your budget, net worth, discretionary income, credit utilization, as well as debt to income ratio. With that being said you can get this personal budget template on Etsy. Basically you’ll sit down to do your budget every time you get paid, pay your bills and you’ll be set with not only a budget for the next couple of weeks, but one that projects months into the future as well. Now in addition to that, the template is “hands on” but not too much so. If you can pull this off you’ll be ahead of 95% of the population (I completely made that number up). Personally, once I started tracking my net worth I started making much better financial decisions. Now the template I’m mentioning here not only tracks your budget but your net worth as well. This means we need a budget template that is fit for that. But what I tried to create with this financial template is something that is completely designed for people who live paycheck to paycheck and want to set goals to move beyond that.Īnd last I checked nearly 4 out of 5 Americans are more less living this way, and about 40% of the population are a paycheck away from poverty. Now, I may be biased because I created this budget…and all jokes aside, it is entirely subjective. It’s not even subjective, it’s 100% literally the best budget financial template you can use. If you’re looking for a budget to use as we head into 2023 to get your financial life back in order, then here is the best personal budget template in excel. However, with the volume of water we have moving in & out of the Bay (100 billion tonnes each tide) the horizontal effect can be a truly an amazing sight!Īt low tide a vast expanse of the ocean floor is exposed. If you are accustomed to the 1-6 foot tides in the rest of the world, this may not sound very impressive. Basically, it involves going to the same beach at both high and low tide to see the huge distance that the tide travels from high to low. Horizontal Tidal Effect This phenomenon occurs in many locations in the upper part of the Bay of Fundy but you need to allow 6 hours to appreciate it. it's interesting to watch from the shore but it is hugely fun to raft in. One of the best ways to experience this tidal change is to go white water rafting in it. The bore time varies depending on where you're perched to view it from the riverbank. Note that the bore time does not match either the high or low tide times listed on the tide chart for that community. Most of these are on the Nova Scotia side of the bay. Visitors usually like to visit those with some interpretation. Many rivers in the upper part of the Bay have tidal bores but, unless you're a local, you may have trouble finding them. The actual rapids of a tidal bore are between 10 and 12 feet, which is still pretty cool. To best appreciate the vertical tidal effect, visit the same wharf at low tide then again at high tide.Įven if you've never previously been to the Bay of Fundy, you may have heard about the phenomenon known as the tidal bore: outflowing rivers flowing back upstream as the tide comes in.įolks who have never been to Fundy before tend to take our 50 foot tide measurement and combine it with the bore concept - then end up thinking that we have a 50 foot (think: tsunami!!) bore twice a day, which we do not. Remember: the time between high and low tide is 6 hr 13 minutes. At high tide, these same boats are floating alongside the top of the wharf. This effect can be seen at most of our wharves around the bay.Īt low tide local fishing boats are sitting high and dry on the ground against the wharf while the tide is a mile or so away. This is the effect that gives the Bay of Fundy the highest tides in the world (approx 50 feet) designation. There are actually four tidal effects that can be experienced around the Bay of Fundy. Why do people call the tidal effects by different names? Isn’t a tide simply a tide? More information about the various tidal effects you can experience in addition to the bore below.Ģ. The Bay's tides do officially measure 50 feet in height but the tidal bore (just one of several ways to see the tides) is not a 50 foot 'wall of water' twice a day.
